We could choose our electives to some extent but we always had to take the four main classes (English, math, science, social studies), and even for the electives we don’t have complete freedom because there are certain requirements we had to meet to graduate (at least two years of foreign language, for example). So the choices were very constrained.
That’s not it for me. It’s that other people giving me tasks to do* for 6-7 hours a day is not how I want to spend my day.
*with a job, people give you tasks, but at least you get to choose which jobs you apply for. in school, you have no say at all
