Functional Decision Theory (FDT) is often considered a version of UDT, but Wei Dai doesn’t endorse this as far as I can tell.
To correct the record on this, it’s not that I don’t endorse FDT being considered a version of UDT (this seems fine to me), but rather I don’t endorse FDT per se, i.e., as the current best candidate for normative decision theory, or as the main foundation for further research, due to its use of logical counterfactuals which I think is potentially unnecessary (because EDT-style logical conditionals may be sufficient). And the context for saying this was me explaining to the authors of the FDT paper why I didn’t want to sign on to be a co-author (as co-authorship would seemingly imply such endorsement).
