I am not sure how to classify religious fanaticism
I always thought of that as less a moral difference and more a matter of actually taking beliefs seriously, except with a failure to equally seriously go about checking if beliefs are true.
I’m guessing more than a few rationalists who grew up in religious contexts once upon a time took those religious beliefs much more seriously than their peers did, and consequentially might have shown signs of “fanaticism”.
