Of course you can get around the issues of being rude and misleading by labeling the text as AI-written, or substantively AI-written. I suspect that’s not something most people want to do, though.
Indeed I have noticed a trend of half-disclaimers, in which people acknowledge that AI was involved in some way in producing their work, and then when asked to elaborate, they provide details which I would summarize as “AI wrote the whole thing”. It happens often enough that I have started presuming the worst of any vague disclaimers I encounter (not always correct, but correct more often than any other guess I could make).
