Self-contained technical results can be shared effectively. Philosophy that framed and motivated those results sometimes can only be shared in the form of a hand-wavy book-length treatise that won’t be readable if the author is not a good writer, and in any case will often fail to enable others to carry on the work.
If the philosophy fails to produce those self-contained technical results, it makes sense to give up on the part where you are writing the treatise, and so the only purpose of the work should be the technical results, even if it’s only a small part of the work in terms of overall effort. The failure mode is to do work that by its nature won’t be able to produce the technical results.
