The idea of wireheading violates my aesthetic sensibilities. I’d rather keep experiencing some suffering on my quest for increasing happiness, even if my final subjective destination were the same as that of a wirehead, which I doubt, because I consider my present path as important as the end goal. I doubt value and morality can be fully deconstructed through reason.

How is wireheading different from this http://i.imgur.com/wKpLx.jpg ? I think James Hughes makes a very good case for what is wrong with current transhumanist thought in his ‘Problems of Transhumanism’ http://ieet.org/index.php/IEET/more/hughes20100105/Problems
