The high level view is too boring: the more complexity the greater the chance at any given time that components will interact in a way as to cause the whole system to grind to a halt. Civilizations manage to become complex because they manage to lower the failure rate of key components, but this is probably due more to a selection effect than any conscious planning. The error tolerances of various components are not known and can not be tested empirically.
i.e. we should pay more attention to how the Jews do things. Much of it is probably a really good idea for non-obvious reasons.
