LWers from Waterloo—of whom I know there are a few—assemble!
It looks like there have been a few meetups in the past, but nobody has been responding to my PM’s, so I thought I’d take matters into my own hands. Rationality is too important to wait around for.
As a topic, I was thinking “what does LW mean to you?”, but in my experience the conversation usually takes its own wings.

I wish you had started it this summer. I was making a 2h commute to Toronto to attend theirs when I was right on the Oakville/Sauga border.

Unfortunately no. I live in Waterloo, just spent the summer in Mississauga. I might make a guest appearance at some point during the year though!
I aim to be there, but I have been ill and my health comes first. I hope to not be the only female attending.
As of right now, I think you might be, katryn, but that’s okay! Bring a friend (even if she has no exposure to LW, just someone who will give this whole rationality thing a chance) and poof, just like magic there are two females attending.
I’ll see about bringing my girlfriend too, because all of the meet-up literature says GENDER RATIO MATTERS. It’s very particular on that point.

I will attend. I looked for interest in a Waterloo meetup before, but I did not get around to organizing one. I think this is a new meetup, unless you count the time Eliezer came here. (I don’t know anyone who attended that, by the way.)
Awesome! I’ll be back in Waterloo in January and I hope these continue till then. I had plans to start them myself.
I just made the reservation—it’s under Sandy, but I’ll have a sign too, so don’t worry too much about finding us. We’re expecting a turn out of about 10 people :)

I have wished for a nearby LW group for a while and will be attending U of Waterloo in January. I will nearly certainly be there.
