I would love to see a rationalist master the dark arts of TikToking.
I don’t think I have the stamina or talent to be that person, but I think it would be immensely helpful to the cause of AI safety if someone who actually understood the issue were to get a big public platform.
I also think the issue has the potential to be immensely saleable: it is both extremely exciting and extremely scary. It also happens to have the best grounding to become avant-garde and counterculture, because it happens to be highly convincing and therefore a great candidate for putting you ahead of the curve of being interested in the hit new thing before it hits mainstream.
Someone, or rather a lot of someones, are going to capitalize on this. And I hope that some of them are rationalists who actually understand the issues.
