I’m not sure that this is a fallacy per se. As presented it sounds more like a heuristic than an actual error in decision making, although to be fair I suppose we talk about the sunk cost “fallacy” even in cases where sunk costs are information you should act on, like when forced to reprioritize work that has switching costs.
