Well, you’ve convinced me that I shouldn’t correct people for their own sakes (most of the time), but you haven’t convinced me that I shouldn’t do it for the hypothesised ev-psych reasons like status gaining, group signalling, and just generally getting bonus hedons if I can convince someone of something.
(And the reason I wouldn’t want to convince people of silly things as much is because I get fewer hedons that way, and generally think that ceteris paribas it’s easier to convince someone of something closer to the truth than something further away from the truth.)
