I’m not sure whether you intended this, but I suppose “70 years from now” does mean “70 years ago”, in an extremely literal, unidiomatic sense of “from”.
That was actually pointed out to me after I finished the draft, but I decided to leave it be. I think it sounds better, and the unintentional double-meaning is nice.
