ACX Phoenix, May 2026 Meetup (Spring Schelling feature)

I Return! After getting married and distracted for some time in that blissful state, the Call For Organizers went out, and I decided I had really better get back on it for the ACX Meetups Everywhere Spring 2026.

New Venue: We will be meeting at the Tempe Public Library (Ironwood Classroom) this time. Our previous haunt, The Churchill in Phoenix, though it had good food options, was loud, and hot, so by group consensus I went to find this new place. Google location plus code: https://plus.codes/855C93RC+HP

This gathering is, as ever, a social hour at its heart: come to meet fellow rationalists, enjoy free-form conversation, and simply hang out. However, this time, we will probably also be playing one or two rationalist group games! Most likely we will be playing Outrangeous and/or Dissent Collusion (depending on the vibe and group size).

You’re welcome to bring drinks and food, and we will have various snacks provided as well.

Everyone’s welcome—yes that includes You dear reader! That also includes any of your friends who have never even heard of ACX or Lesswrong but who would be entertained by arguing about politics, god, technology, economics, sci-fi novels, dancing venues, and whatever else we happen to wander onto (send them this event page and tell them to come!). So please feel free to come even if you feel awkward about it, even if you’re not ‘the typical ACX reader’, even if you’re worried people won’t like you, etcetera; we would glad to have you!

Libraries can be labyrinthine. If you get turned around, the front desk will be happy to help you, just ask them where the Ironwood Classroom is, and you’ll find us.

Day of, if you have any questions, I’m Nathan (@maltonpsmith) on our Discord. Feel free to ping me, I’ll be keeping an eye on it throughout the event.

Also, we have an email newsletter to announce meetup times and details. You can sign up for that here to make sure you don’t miss anything in the future!
