And sure enough, almost exactly 18 months after Eliezer’s (2022) April’s Fools post, which was a huge update for me, the knowledge that humanity is probably not going to survive the AI juggernaut stopped feeling raw and started feeling like an ordinary fact about the world.
Maybe I was better prepared for that shock than most people are because I’ve experienced a lot of trauma and adversity?
