This morning, New York State Assemblyman Alex Bores introduced the Responsible AI Safety and Education Act. I’d like to think some of my previous advocacy was helpful here, but I know for a fact that I’m nottheonlyone who supports legislation like this that only targets frontier labs and ensures the frontier gets pushed responsibly.
I have more takes at the linked post, but the bill looks pretty good to me — the biggest difference from previous SB1047-flavored bills is that it addresses distillations of frontier models.
