On an a16z podcast last week, Andreessen opined that being a venture capitalist may be a profession that is “quite literally timeless.” “When the AIs are doing everything else,” he continued, “that may be one of the last remaining fields that people are still doing.”
Trying to steelman this: If humanity survives and the current economical rights are respected, venture capitalists will still own tons of money, so they can have a job investing it.
But the word “doing” is inappropriate. They will still own the capital, but all the decisions will be done by the AI. Maybe there will be a button they can click, but the button will be disconnected from the actual functionality.
