My guess is that it has something to do with the cadence of the sentence, and the placement of the period. I.e., AI would usually not use the same word cliche three time in repeated cadence. Also the slop thing would have words that fill in for a certain overused cadence without really adding much to the content of the sentence.
The point: all writing is a campaign against cliche. The issue isn’t just cliches of the pen — it’s cliches of the mind. I’m talking about cliches of the heart.
