I think I agree with the sentiment, but I thought I should probably mention that Death with Dignity was in fact posted on April Fool’s—Yudkowsky is pessimistic, but not quite 0% pessimistic :).
Last year, however, Yudkowsky admitted defeat. On April 1, 2022, he announced that MIRI was changing its mission to “Death With Dignity,” estimating the chances of human survival to be 0%. The part about believing it will kill everyone isn’t an April Fools’, but the part about MIRI changing to Death With Dignity is.
