It reads as leftist both because it’s anti-Jewish (Jews being, if not white, at least excluded from the POC categories most strongly protected by the left) and because it’s explicitly opposed to the legitimacy of nation-states.
This completely misses the sizable Jewish anti-Zionist movement! A lot of leftists see this as ethnic cleansing, and with substantial evidence. In our view, Israel has a right to defend itself at most proportional to the injuries they incurred; going further is needless persecution of a mostly-innocent population, which can only lead to further radicalization, and it would be to most Israelis’ benefit if they stopped oppressing the Palestinians and trying to drive them off their land. It would also set an example of international law being enforced, and such examples are very rare in these days.
How likely is that to happen? I think they’d need to pay a lot in reparations and evacuate the settlements, and I don’t think the political will exists in Israel to make that happen. We’d have to see if sanctions changed that. It would have worked much better if they’d listened to us and played tit-for-tat from the start.
