Under the Karma system we’re all sort of Forum enforcers right? The difference is I provided a reason for my disapproval instead of just voting down (which I didn’t).
Ok I could have been more polite but to me it’s blatantly obvious you don’t mass post without even responding to comments in between in this way.
Sorry to hear that we’ve rubbed you the wrong way. I recognize that we may have over saturated the discussion forum as of late. Our posts have generally been on a diverse collection of topics (though I know that you found the biomedical research post repetitive).
Are there particular comments that you’d like to see us respond to? The reason that we haven’t been responding to your own comments is that we haven’t had specific responses.
I checked your colleague’s posting history and he hadn’t responded to anything though there were plenty of useful comments he could have reacted to. Instead just new posts.
But nevermind, let’s discuss the topics instead. I do find your posts interesting, I should say.
I generally try to respond after a decent number of comments have accumulated, so I have a better idea of the overall views of commenters. As the main poster, I generally try not to bias the discussion too much by pushing my own views in the comments.
The exception is where a comment requests a clarification as to my original meaning or points to an error in my post. In that case, I do try to respond quickly.
In some cases, I upvote specific comments but I don’t have a lot to say specifically in response so I don’t make reply comments. But LessWrong doesn’t show who upvoted particular posts or comments (unlike other places like Facebook or Quora, that I’m more used to), so I should probably also explicitly thank people publicly for their engagement.
Whether you want it or not it comes off as a bit arrogant never to respond to any comments but merely put up new posts. It gives the impression you don’t think any of the comments are worth responding to.
Posts that are not meetup spam should be encouraged if they add value. I’m not saying this post doesn’t, I’m saying there are worse things than meetup spam.
