If you look for marker 6, “Discover Center”, you will see the Dam #1 Bridge just to the “left” of that location. I checked satellite images and there are parking lots near the Discovery Center and some spots along Constitution Ave (the street leading there) too. It’s probably a good idea to arrive a little early so you can be at the trailhead on time, I’ll be doing that for sure! According to satellite view much of the trail should be forested with occasional open spots when crossing water via bridge(s).
Newport News Park Hiking Meetup—Saturday November 4, 1pm − 3pm

We will be at Newport News Park, Virginia, for a hiking meetup from 1:00pm − 3:00pm. Please meet at Dam #1 Bridge, Newport News, VA 23608 (plus code, 5FM7+67 Newport News, Virginia) by 1:00pm for the hike. We’ll be crossing that bridge to the White Oak Trail (2.6 mile loop) at 1:05pm to begin the hike! Here is a park map.
