I think I would choose #1 for the first scenario and #2 for the second. There’s a subtle difference between the two scenarios. In the first, your choice doesn’t affect you in any way, thus, “Now, you blink.” In the second, the real you will have made a choice that affects you (You will know what you decided for your simulation, which may or may not matter to you personally.)
Does the ordering of events make a difference in anyone’s choices? That is, you’re allowed to choose Box 1 with the money, or Box 2 with the hornet nest, knowing that afterwards, you will be subject to torture or bliss, and then the universe will be reset (but you’ll still keep your box.)
