.Have at least one Sweet thing, but not more than two.
.Have a Spicy thing, but not more than one, since most people don’t like Spicy things.
.Have at least one Meaty thing. (NB this is way less solid than the two categories above, to the point where I suspect I may have just made it up; all I can say is that previous feast-throwers seemed to think it mattered, since the few dish correlations strong enough to lean on are “this super-Meaty thing’s presence is anticorrelated with Roc”)
.Have either five or six dishes.
.Have good things and not bad things.
My current best guess:
Eclairs and Applesauce (the two best Sweet things), Fritters (the most tolerable Spicy thing), Brisket (everyone likes Brisket), and Roasted Roc (because it’s traditional, and because I can’t tell whether Brisket is Meaty enough).
(Spent a while deciding whether to add Dumplings as an inoffensive bit of ballast; decided against it.)
A peripheral observation:
If there are any vegetarian/vegan guests to this Feast, their best-case scenario is spending the night chugging applesauce.
Killer Kraken Kebabs are Spicy (I originally thought ‘Killer’ applied to the Kraken, not the Kebabs)
Eclairs and Gateaus are Sweeter than the average Sweet thing; Kebabs and Vindaloos are Spicier than the average Spicy dish; and it’s the total Spiciness and Sweetness which affect Quality.
Kraken and Roc in particular seem to have a weird antisynergy. (Though this might be an artefact of the way they anticorrelate? Idk how that could work.)
Accounting for all the above in my model tweaks the relative rankings of some foods; in particular, Kraken is now better than Fritters in terms of direct Quality.
Gateau and Eclairs are Sweeter than most Sweet things (very likely true!)
Kebabs and Vindaloos are Spicier than most Spicy things (probably true!)
Kraken and Roc are redundant with each other such that it’s inadvisable to have both (plausibly true!)
Roc is unusually filling and so makes a disproportionate contribution to the Total Food Amount (might be true!)
I’ve found a really good feast plan which will perform really impressively well (no idea if this is true; shortage of data leaves me second-guessing every inference; hope it is!)
The rules, near as I can figure them:

Some further discoveries:

My revised feast plan is therefore:
ABDHK
A minor bugfix to my investigation code suggests that
The benefit to having six dishes is greater than I realized.
My revised revised feast plan is now
ABDHKO
On the basis that
Owlbear Omlette is tied with Troll Tenderloin Tartare as the least offensive dish I haven’t already added.
And
Everyone else is planning [6+]-course meals and it’s making me cagey.
Speaking of which, calling in advance that I used my homebaked modelling library for this one, and found it helpful. With its techniques, I discovered that:
Kebabs are Spicy (almost certainly true!)
Gateau and Eclairs are Sweeter than most Sweet things (very likely true!)
Kebabs and Vindaloos are Spicier than most Spicy things (probably true!)
Kraken and Roc are redundant with each other such that it’s inadvisable to have both (plausibly true!)
