Well, I think traditional answers are:
We will build a galaxy-brain and let it figure it out.
We just do it for the fun of the game. Or, slightly differently:
We just want it—there is no philosophical justification. Like some people enjoy apples, some people enjoy bananas. Not becase there are some reasons for that, just because it is one of the terminal preferences, in a way.
