It’s unclear to me whether I’m a late bloomer. Being born in 1991 and having learned to program at the age of 10, I only finally made it my day job at the age of 27. Arguably, in those 17 years between, I did nothing of value to society. But I soaked up anything I found interesting, talked to more people in different life situations than someone married to their computer should, made an above average amount of mistakes, and eventually got diagnosed with an attention deficit disorder, after which I finally got a grip. I made it through to getting my qualifications as programmer certified in Germany. Now I am somehow raising a kid and still hoarding knowledge about whatever interests me like it’s the only cope available.

As you’d expect from that kind of bio, I have more unpublished articles, half written books and side-projects than followers on twitter.

Between all of that, I somehow ended up better positioned for AI reshaping the SWE world than many of my peers, presumably because I learned to traverse the world and myself through understanding, as my feelings turned out to be unreliable guides. Reasoning about AI has led to colleagues giving me the weird eye every now and then, but hey...
