I have read this post multiple times and allowed myself being confused about it.
With this recent reading my associative bridges matched more on Nolan’s movies which also seem to have some kind of funky communication going on.
In Memonto in the runtime finale, which is chronologically in the middle, there is a kind of philosphical or psyhcological dilemma which seems connected to this “jam up your phone” thing. The protagonist has just experienced a lot of stress and has committed murder by lying to himself despite having a principle and life foundation by staying true to oneself. He begins to wonder whether there is an external world outside of his imaginations and interpretations.
Then in Inception, the ending is about a spintop being used as a totem to determine whether the protagonist is dreaming at the moment. He walks away not caring about the result but the audience is left to wonder whether the top stops spinning or not.
And what has kept Nolan recent in my mind, is that Tenet continues on with similar kind of theming. Having “faith in the mechanics of the world” but it not being excuse to do nothing.
In all of these it seems noticing and daling with metaphysical-like characteristics of their world is kind of important for the characters. If you were in a Nolan film as a character it would probably be of benefit to pay attention so you get a grasp of the gimmick of the movie. I feel it would be very challenging to develpo an algorithm or attitude that could catch all three twists.
