My usual analogy for why the alignment problem isn’t going to be solved by default is human-animal relationships. More specifically, outside of pets, the alignment problem of how to align humans to animals hasn’t been solved at all, often to the detriment or extinction of many animal species.
And I think this is due to power imbalances plus cultural knowledge.
