I have now complimented this sequence enough times that I feel comfortable saying that I really wish there were fewer Twitter links. Over 50% of your links are to Twitter, and I have Twitter permablocked on all devices at all times (and I’m sure I’m not the only one). The real problem is that often the hypertext is just a teaser and I can never find out what you were referencing. I don’t really know how to remedy this without making a bunch more work for you, but I notice it every week and so I wanted to note it.
Given both this and going frontpage for now, I’m going to be trying to cut down on Twitter links in the original version going forward. Some of it needs to be there because it’s a source (which means no need to click), some can be moved to the thing it is linking to (which is better for those who consider Twitter a memetic hazard, so I can favor cutting out the Twitter commentary on the margin, at the loss of ability to tip the hat), and important twitter stuff can be quoted or pasted in.
It’s mildly annoying to do, but my main worry is that it interrupts the flow of the post—it’s no longer optional. Having to use Snipping Tool has become second nature.
A highly recommended quality-of life improvement is to use ShareX, a program which will let you take a screenshot, immediately upload it to Imgur, then copies the URL link into your clipboard. Sharing, embedding, and backing up anything you see becomes habitual. For example, I hit “Ctrl + Shift + 4”, then “Ctrl + V” and get: https://i.imgur.com/LDclgnH.png
It not only saves me time, it cuts out a trivial inconvenience of showing my screen to others. URLs work universally, and I don’t have to figure out the image upload process of every website everywhere. It’s actually a qualitative change in the type of content I share to e.g. coworkers and friends, and, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
At least for the LW editor, I can do Option+Shift+4, select the area of the screen, and then just CTRL+V into the editor. My guess is the same is true for Wordpress? Basically as fast as copying a link.
If you get it into the clipboard it should work. But again, using Snipping Tool is fine, it’s purely about not cluttering the post slash giving people access to any links/threads/etc.
If that is indeed the LW preference—then could it be done on the import phase? (Or by readers on LW?) I like the twitter links because they’re actually good, and would happily switch to reading on your blog to get the unabridged version.
More simply, would spoilering the twitter stuff work?

Anyone else agree? Often they are necessary but I’ve considered doing less of them, I using pasting in more important ones.
On the margin I’d probably add screenshots for the 2-3 key ones. I used to find this irritating but now it’s a habit when I share things at work.

Agree. I don’t have Twitter blocked, but generally regard it as a memetic hazard to be avoided if possible.
I usually just hope the Twitter links aren’t that important/interesting.
Twitter is almost always blocked on my devices, as well.

Like this.
Would also prefer fewer twitter links.
