He noted considerations like [paraphrased] “It matters that the norm be simple enough that people can reliably understand and use it.” Or, quoted directly: “This norm is too subtle for Twitter. It might be too subtle for us, too.”
Not that it remotely matters, and it’s probably just an editing mistake, but I was bothered by the juxtaposition of “quoted directly” with a paraphrased quote (the actual one was “This concept is certainly too subtle for Twitter. Maybe it’s too subtle for us too.”).
