Apparently English juries are allowed to infer guilt if you don’t talk, thanks to the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. They are apparently even allowed to infer guilt if you don’t answer immediately but choose to answer later. Fortunately for Australians when our various states considered adopting changes based of the ‘You Are Probably a Criminal If You Don’t Talk and Public Order Act’ they all rejected them.
