When and where?
We will meet on Friday, June 3rd 2022 at 17:00 pm CEST (German time) at the end of the bridge in the Stadtgarten in Freiburg. Afterwards we will sit with picnic blankets somewhere in the park, so even if you are late you can try finding us. We will carry a cardboard sign saying “www.rationality-freiburg.de” . The meetup will finish at 19:00 pm CEST and we may go to get dinner afterwards.
It would be ideal if you read this beforehand and note your thoughts and questions, but feel free to turn up even if that is not the case! We will summarize each post.
Afterwards we will play a game of personal calibration i.e. a quiz where what is most important is to accurately assess how sure you are about your answer. For example: What is the third largest country of the world by area? China or Brazil? Are you 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% or 99% sure about your answer? Getting the answer wrong and saying you are only 50% sure (i.e. you are guessing!) is better than getting it wrong while being 70% certain.
There will be snacks.
What is this about?
Rationality Freiburg is a meeting place for LessWrong or SCC readers as well as other people interested in Rationality. Rationality is the desire to see the world as it is, in particular using empirical sciences as well as the development of tools for reaching personal goals.
You are worried you have nothing to contribute? No worries! Everyone is welcome!

Wir treffen uns am Freitag, 3. Juni 2022 um 17:00 Uhr MESZ am Ende der Brücke im Stadtgarten in Freiburg. Danach werden wir mit Picknickdecken irgendwo im Park sitzen, so dass du uns auch finden kannst, wenn du zu spät kommst. Wir werden ein Pappschild mit der Aufschrift “www.rationality-freiburg.de” tragen. Das Ende ist um 19:00 Uhr MESZ und wir gehen danach ggf. noch etwas essen.
Wir werden die zehn Beiträge aus der Sequenz Predictably Wrong von Book I: Map and Territory von “The Sequences”, einem Standardkompendium der Rationality-Community, besprechen.
Es wäre ideal, wenn du dies vorher lesen und deine Gedanken und Fragen notieren würdest, aber du kannst auch gerne kommen, wenn das nicht der Fall ist! Wir werden die Posts zusammenfassen.
Anschließend werden wir eine Runde “Personal Calibration” spielen, d.h. ein Quiz, bei dem es vor allem darauf ankommt, genau einzuschätzen, wie sicher dur dir bei deiner Antwort bist. Zum Beispiel: Welches ist das flächenmäßig drittgrößte Land der Welt? China oder Brasilien? Bist du dir zu 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% oder 99% sicher? Eine falsche Antwort und die Angabe, dass dur dir nur zu 50% sicher bist (d. h. du hast geraten!), ist besser als eine falsche Antwort, bei der du dir zu 70% sicher warst.
Es wird Snacks geben.

Rationality Freiburg ist ein Treffpunkt für LessWrong- oder SCC-Leser sowie für andere an Rationalität interessierte Menschen. Rationalität ist der Wunsch, die Welt so zu sehen, wie sie ist, insbesondere mit Hilfe der empirischen Wissenschaften sowie der Entwicklung von Werkzeugen zur Erreichung persönlicher Ziele.
